Prices of select spices drifted lower at the wholesale kirana market in the national capital during the week, dragged down by muted buying activity due to fall in demand.

Sentiment turned weak owing to adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing belts.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by retailers as well as exporters as demand eased at existing levels, weighed on the prices.

Black pepper prices declined by Rs 10 to conclude at Rs 430-580 per kg on reduced offtake by exporters.

Cardamom brown -- Jhundiwali and Kanchicut -- traded lower at Rs 670-690 and Rs 740-1,040 as against previous closing of Rs 710-730 and Rs 770-1,070 per kg, respectively.

Cloves eased by Rs 10 to conclude at Rs 540-610 per kg.

Coriander prices fell by Rs 100 to finish at Rs 6,000-12,400 per quintal.

Dry ginger and kalaunji traded lower at Rs 12,000- 17,000 and Rs 10,600-10,800 from last week's close of Rs 12,200 -17,200 and Rs 10,800-11,000 per quintal, respectively.

Nutmeg prices also slipped Rs 10 to settle at Rs 440- 460 per kg.

Prices of poppyseed (China, UP and MP-RAJ) drifted lower by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 560-580, Rs 550-570 and Rs 570-690 per kg, respectively.

Red chilli and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 5,900-15,400 and Rs 8,000-11,000 per quintal, respectively.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 300 each to end at Rs 19,300-19,500 and Rs 22,300-22,800 per quintal, respectively.
