Schools to remain closed in Lucknow today due to bad weather
Schools closed due to rain: Unseasonal rains have been lashing various districts of Uttar Pradesh for the past several days, causing floods and waterlogging in many places.
School closed in UP today: Schools in Lucknow and parts of Uttar Pradesh will remain closed on Tuesday due to bad weather. According to the Lucknow district administration, all schools and higher educational institutions have been ordered to remain shut owing to the torrential rains that have been pounding the capital and other districts.
"Schools will be closed on Tuesday," said Suryapal Gangwar, DM, Lucknow district, in a statement.
According to a PTI report which quoted a government official, higher education institutions will be closed on Tuesday in the districts where the government has announced a holiday due to rain.
Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Manoj Kumar in an order sent to the Director of Higher Education and all the regional higher education officers said that in view of the possibility of heavy rains in the state, District Magistrates of many districts have declared holidays in educational institutions and such orders issued by the district magistrates would also be applicable to higher educational institutions.
Earlier on Monday, schools were closed on Monday in Lucknow, Noida, Ghaziabad, Agra, Meerut, Aligarh, Mathura, Kanpur, Etah, Mainpuri and Firozabad.
Unseasonal rains have been lashing various districts of Uttar Pradesh for the past several days, causing floods and waterlogging in many places.
According to a report by the Relief Commissioner's office, at present more than 650 villages in 16 districts are affected by floods in the state. About 5.8 lakh people have been affected due to the inundation.
The state received an average of 22.5 mm of rain on Sunday, which is 2396 per cent higher than the "long period average" (LPA) for the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The state has received 92.3 mm of rain since October 1, which is 500 per cent more than the LPA of 14.4 mm.
