It is easy for fraudsters to make a fake social media account and target bank customers. The scammer sends you message or emails and makes you believe that the message is from a bank because of which the account holder gets confused and gets trapped by the hackers.

Hence, to remain safe from this fraud, the largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) came up with the warning for their customers on Saturday. SBI warned on Twitter, " Do not invest your time and money interacting with fake accounts on social media. Follow, tag and interact with only the verified, official handles of SBI, to ensure that your comments, complaints and enquiries get adequately addressed and you are not scammed by fraudsters."

The largest lender of the country has also introduced various measures and guidelines that a bank account holder must follow if they come across such fraud.

The hackers send fraudulent emails from a fake website and steal users' personal and confidential information like bank account numbers, net banking passwords, credit card numbers, personal identity details etc. Later the fraudsters may use that information for syphoning money from the victim's account or run up bills on the victim's credit cards. In the worst case, one could also become the victim of identity theft. So, to alert the customers, SBI is sending a warning to create awareness among the account holders.

In the warning, the bank has asked bonafide customers to follow, tag and interact with only verified, official handles of SBI, to ensure that the comments, complaints and enquiries get adequately addressed and send to the right place and you are not scammed by fraudsters.
