SBI online banking service: Attention all the State Bank of India (SBI) customers! The largest public sector lender will be undertaking an exercise to deploy a new environment for some of its applications on 21 June, which would result in temporary disruptions in its online services, the bank has said in a notice available on its official Twitter handle @TheOfficialSBI.

“Our online services may not be accessible on 21st June as we will be deploying a new environment for some of our applications. We request our customers to plan accordingly to avoid being inconvenienced,” the bank said in its tweet.

In line with the Narendra Modi Government’s clarion call for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the state-run bank is running a social media campaign Aatmanirbhar #GharSeBanking where the bank is encouraging its customers to manage their banking needs from the comforts of their homes.

The bank has also been advising its customers to be cautious while performing banking activities because of various threats. The bank on its official twitter handle has also shared various video tutorials to apply for services like ATM Card, Cheque Book and even activate or disable services like UPI. SBI also encourages its customers to pay taxes on line.

Some of the online services being offered by SBI are:

1) Fund Transfer
2) Bill payments
3) Creating deposit accounts : e-TDRs, e-STDRs, e-RDs
4) Obtain bank statements
5) Ordering cheque books

The bank has advised its customers to keep their personal information safe with strong passwords. “This simple practice will ensure your safety. Stay safe & stay vigilant,” it says. One of the recommended practice for setting up passwords for preventing online frauds is to use combination of alphabets in upper and lower, case, numbers and special characters. The bank also advises its customers to not set passwords that can easily be guessed like @jan2020, admin@2020 etc.
