However, due to the political controversy surrounding the film, its collection has suffered a setback. Sarkar collection has witnessed a drop on its third day at Kerala box office. The political thriller earned just Rs 1.28 cr on its third day and now has a grand total of Rs 5.96 cr. With a good response from the audiences, Sarkar collection may cross the Rs 10 cr mark at the box office by the end of its extended opening weekend, according to a tweet by film trade analyst Ramesh Bala.

The Tamil movie Sarkar is directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Superstar Thalapathy Vijay played the lead role of a corporate czar from the US who came to India to cast his vote. The movie got an 8.3/10 IMDb rating. The movie has suffered because it was leaked on Tamilrockers website.

Sarkar was released in 3500 screens worldwide across 80 countries, which makes it the widest Tamil movie of all time till date. Sarkar is expected to establish new standards at the ticket windows, with these numbers of screens worldwide. The film also has stars like Keerthy Suresh, Johny Tri Nguyen, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi and Yogi Babu in important roles. The music album for the film is composed by A.R. Rahman.
