Sarkar Box Office Collection Day 1: Directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, actor Vijay's latest political drama Sarkar has been released worldwide today. The film has been released on around 3400 screens and has received an overwhelming response from the audiences. Film and trade analyst Sumit Kadel has said that the film is off to a 'fantastic start'.

The Vijay starrer is expected to break Baahubali record. Baahubali earned around Rs 19 crore in Tamil Nadu on Day 1. However, given the response and hype around Sarkar film, experts anticipate that the film may well earn more than Baahubali in the state on opening day. Though the Baahubali was a huge budget movie, the budget of Sarkar is said to be around Rs 45 crore.

Even Taran Adarsh was all praise for the movie and the response it has received.

"The hugely awaited #Tamil biggie #Sarkar, which opened today, has got fantastic showcasing outside Tamil Nadu as well... In Mumbai, for instance, the plexes have allotted 8, 9, even 11 and 12 shows every day, which is a rarity... The hype is truly tremendous... #SarkarDiwali," said Adarsh in tweet.

Sarkar film is a story of an NRI (Vijay) who comes to India from the US to cast his vote. However, he decides to take on the political might of the corrupts as soon as he learns that his vote has been cast by someone else.
