It has to be noted that the launch date of Sansad TV today has coincided with the International Day of Democracy, states the press release from the Prime Minister's Office.
According to the press release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), in February, 2021, the decision to merge Lok Sabha TV and Rajya Sabha TV was taken. The CEO of Sansad TV was appointed in March, 2021.
The PMO press release has also stated the categories of programmes that will be telecasted on the Sansad TV. It stated that Sansad TV programming will primarily be in four categories – functioning of Parliament and democratic institutions, governance and implementation of schemes/policies, history and culture of India and issues/interests/concerns of contemporary nature.
It has already been said that the International Day of Democracy is celebrated on September 15. The International Day of Democracy provides an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world.
The official UNESCO websites states that democracy is as much a process as a goal, and only with the full participation of and support by the international community, national governing bodies, civil society and individuals, can the ideal of democracy be made into a reality to be enjoyed by everyone and everywhere.
