Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 67 after battling cancer for two years. His friend and co-star of many films, Amitabh Bachchan was first one to break the news news on Twitter.

His friend and co-star of many films, Amitabh Bachchan was first one to break the news news on Twitter. “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !" Bachchan had tweeted. It was later confirmed by Rishi's brother Randhir Kapoor.
In his last tweet, Kapoor had urged all the citizens to remain calm during the lockdown and appreciate the contribution of health workers. He said that we have to win this war against coronavirus together.
"An appeal Folded hands to all brothers and sisters from all social status and faiths. Please don’t resort to violence,stone throwing or lynching. Doctors,Nurses,Medics, Policemen etc..are endangering their lives to save you. We have to win this Coronavirus war together. Please. Jai Hind!Flag of India," he had tweeted on 2 April.
The actor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. In February, Kapoor was hospitalised twice due to his health issues. He was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an "infection".

After being hospitalised in Delhi, Kapoor tweeted, "Dear family, friends, foes and followers. I have been overwhelmed by all your concern about my health. Thank you. I have been filming in Delhi past 18 days and because of the pollution, I caught an infection whereby I had to be hospitalized."
He also revealed that doctors had found a patch on his lungs that could have led to pneumonia.
The actor was last seen in the 2019 films The Body and Jhootha Kahin Ka. He had announced his next project – a Hindi remake of The Intern, where the actor was meant to star alongside Deepika Padukone.
