Republic Day 2024: Traffic to be affected as several roads to be closed in Delhi from January 17-21 - Check parade rehearsal map, alternate routes
The advisory also stated that there will be traffic restrictions at Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath Crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road Crossing, and Kartavya Path-C Hexagon from 10.15 AM to 12.30 PM on these dates to facilitate the parades uninterrupted movement.
In view of the rehearsals for the Republic Day parade held on the Kartavya Path, Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for traffic restrictions near the India Gate in Central Delhi for four days.
Republic Day 2024 parade rehearsal dates
According to the advisory, the road restrictions will be on these dates — Wednesday, January 17, Thursday, January 18, Saturday, January 20, and Sunday, January 21 — from Vijay Chowk to India Gate.
The advisory also stated that there will be traffic restrictions at Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath Crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road Crossing, and Kartavya Path-C Hexagon from 10.15 AM to 12.30 PM on these dates to facilitate the parade's uninterrupted movement.
Delhi Police has also suggested alternative routes to the people during that time to avoid traffic jams. The parade route will be from Vijay Chowk—Rajpath up to ‘C’ Hexagon.
Passengers coming from the north to the south and vice versa should follow—
- Ring Road, i.e., Sarai Kale Khan—IP Flyover—Rajghat
- Lajpat Rai Marg—Mathura Road—Bhairon Road—Ring Road
- Aurobindo Marg—Safdarjung Road—Kamal Attaturk Marg—Kautilaya Marg Sardar Patel Marg—Mother Teresa Crescent—RML—Baba Kharak Singh Marg
- Prithvi Raj Road—Rajesh Pilot Marg—Subramaniam Bharti Marg—Mathura Road—Bhairon Road—Ring Road
- Barfkhana—Azad Market—Rani Jhansi Flyover—Panchkuian Road—Hanuman Murti—Vande Matram Marg—Dhaula Kuan
Passengers coming from the east to the west and vice versa should follow—
- Ring Road—Bhairon Road—Mathura Road—Subramaniam Bharti Marg—Rajesh Pilot Marg—Prithvi Raj Road—Safdarjung Road—Kamal Ataturk Marg—Panchsheel Marg—Simon Boliver Marg—Upper Ridge Road/Vande Matram Marg
- Ring Road—ISBT—Chandgi Ram Akhara—Mall Road—Azad Pur—Ring Road
- Ring Road—Bhairon Road—Mathura Road—Lodhi Road—Aurobindo Marg Safdarjung Road—Teen Murti Marg—Mother Teresa Crescent—Park Street—Shankar Road—Vande Matram Marg
Passengers coming from the east to south-west Delhi and vice versa should follow—
- Ring Road—Vande Matram Marg.
From the south to Connaught Place and the Central Secretariat, people should follow—
- Mother Teresa Crescent—Park Street—Mandir Marg/Baba Kharak Singh Marg
- Ring Road—Vande Matram Marg—Link Road—Panchkuian Road
- Ring Road Sardar Patel Marg—11 Murti—Mother Teresa Crescent—R/A RML—North Avenue/Baba Kharak Singh Marg
It is also advised that motorists who are coming to Vinay Marg, Shanti Path and going to New Delhi and beyond should take Sardar Patel Marg—Mother Teresa Crescent—R/A RML—Baba Kharak Singh Marg or Park Street—Mandir Marg and proceed further to North Delhi or New Delhi.
Those working in the north block and south block should take the following routes—
From the South Side
- South Avenue—Dara Shikoh Road—Hukmi Mai Road—South Sunken Road through R.P. Bhawan and reach the north or south block.
From the North Side
- North Avenue—Brassy Avenue—North Sunken Road through R.P. Bhawan and reach the north or south block.
There will also be restrictions on buses from the southside at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Chanakya Puri, Tyag Raj Marg, Krishna Menon Marg, Maulana Azad/Man Singh Road, and Subramaniam Bharti Marg. And from the northside, buses will be curtailed at Shivaji Stadium, Minto Road.
