Republic Day 2023 Parade: India is celebrating its 74th Republic Day today. This year's grand Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi witnessed many firsts. 

Republic Day 2023: Kartavya Path

This is the first Republic Day celebration held at Kartavya Path, a ceremonial boulevard, after the name change, formerly known as Rajpath, in New Delhi.
Republic Day 2023: Atmanirbhar Bharat

This year's Parade focused on 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', only the Made-in-India weapon systems have been showcased at the Republic Day parade. A few of the indigenously developed weapons include K-9 Vajra howitzers, BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, Akash air defense missiles, MBT Arjun, Nag anti-tank guided missiles and Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicles.

Republic Day 2023: Chief Guest

This year Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi is the chief guest of Republic Day celebrations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent the formal invitation to al-Sisi which was handed over to the Egyptian president by Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar during an official visit to Egypt on October 16, 2022.

Republic Day 2023: Nari Shakti

The naval tableau’s central theme this year is Nari Shakti this year. Lt Commander Disha Amrith is to lead a 144-member naval contingent at the parade today.  
Women soldiers guarding the desert border with Pakistan are also a part of the Border Security Force’s (BSF) camel contingent this year.

Republic Day 2023: Daredevils at R-Day Parade

The Indian Army women officers are to lead missile contingents and rode motorcycles as part of the famous Daredevils team at this year's parade. Lieutenant Chetana Sharma, among them, will be leading the 'Made in India' Akash surface-to-air missile system.

Newly-recruited Agniveers are also a part of the parade for the first time.

The Narcotics Control Bureau is showcasing a tableau for the first time.

Republic Day 2023: 21-gun salute to President

Made-in-India 105mm Indian Field Guns have replaced the British-era 25-pounder guns for the first time this year for the 21-gun salute.

Republic Day 2023: Last fly

The Navy’s IL-38 aircraft will have its last take-off at the parade for the last time at this year’s parade. The aircraft has served for over four decades.

Republic Day 2023: 3-D Anamorphic Projection

The first of its kind, 3-D anamorphic projection is organised during the beating retreat ceremony on the façade of North and South Block.
