To a question asked by Singhvi about the global challenges like inflation and war, he said, "Both the situations are challenging." Weighing in on the word "everyone", he said that 2020 was challenging for every single person as Covid-19 came with a mix of surprise and shock.

Das said that 2022 is also "unpredictable". "The war that started in Europe this year was unexpected. No one expected that the war would continue till this time and its impact would be so much". The RBI Governor added that "it has also been a big surprise".

"Every situation is challenging and how we respond to the challenge... this is what we focus. The effort always remains the same, keeping an eye on the challenges ahead and working accordingly," he said.

On the Indian economy, Das said that he is very optimistic about the growth in the coming years.

'In the upcoming 25 years, the prospect of the Indian economy is bright. For that, collective efforts are required." In 2047, he said, when India will celebrate 100 years of Independence, "I see our country improving its rank from its current rank of being the 6th strongest economy in the world."

India's economic growth rose to 13.5 per cent in the first quarter of the current fiscal (2022-23), a huge jump from 4.1 per cent growth recorded in the final quarter of 2021-22. The 13.5 per cent growth was, however, below Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) forecast of 16.2 per cent.
