Ratan Tata receives Australia's highest civilian honour for his philanthropic activity
Australia's High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell, who handed over the award to Ratan Tata, shared images of the ceremony on Twitter and mentioned how Ratan Tata has significantly contributed through his philanthropic activity.
Ratan Tata, Tata Group’s former chairman and one of the most celebrated business tycoons from India, has been conferred with the highest Australian civilian honour, the Order of Australia.
Australia's High Commissioner to India, Barry O’Farrell, who handed over the award to Ratan Tata, shared images of the ceremony on Twitter and mentioned how Ratan Tata has significantly contributed through his philanthropic activity.
Barry O’ Farrell wrote in his tweet, "Ratan Tata is a titan of biz, industry & philanthropy not just in, but his contributions have also made a significant impact in. Delighted to confer Order of Australia (AO) honour to @RNTata2000 in recognition of his longstanding commitment to the relationship. @ausgov."

A few months ago, Ratan Tata was appointed an Honorary Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia. He has been appreciated by the government of Australia for his service to Australia-India bilateral relationships and his works, particularly in the sectors of trade, investment, and philanthropy, have earned him praises.
Prior to receiving the highest civilian order in Australia, Ratan Tata was also the recipient of several high-ranking civilian awards in India. He has been conferred with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan awards, the second- and the third-highest civilian awards in India. Apart from business ventures and employee-friendly approaches in his offices, his philanthropy and plans related to the Indian market have always made him one of the most celebrated business tycoons among Indians. Ratan Tata’s ideology and ethics have also made him quite popular on social media platforms.
The veteran business tycoon received the Order of Australia honour a month after the industrialist was appointed as an Honorary Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AO) for his service to fostering Indo-Australian ties, specifically in trade, investment, and philanthropy.
Ratan Tata was appointed chairman of Tata Group in March 1991 and stepped down from his position in 2012.
