RAPID should be pillar of tax department: PM Modi
The conference named as 'Rajasva Gyan Sangam' is first-of-its-kind and PM Modi hold interactive session with two arms of revenue department- Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a two-day Annual Conference of Tax Administrators 2016 with senior officials of the revenue department of the government in New Delhi on Thursday stating RAPID should be pillar of tax department.
The conference named as 'Rajasva Gyan Sangam' is first-of-its-kind and PM Modi hold interactive session with two arms of revenue department- Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC).
While addressing the conference, PM Modi suggested five pillars of tax administration. He coined the word 'RAPID' meaning Revenue, Accountability, Probity, Information and Digitisation should be the pillar of the tax department.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha tweeted on Twitter:

PM Modi asked the tax officials to move towards digitisation process in order to make tax administration better and efficient whereby make the e-filing of taxes easier, according to PTI report.
He suggested them to remove fear of harrassment by tax officials from the mind of assessees. He said people dont mind paying taxes but there is something else tax officials should understand and remove the obstacle.
He advised not to hire any agency to look after the tax issue because tax officer know the exact problem and the solution must be come from within.
