Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that strengthens the bonds between brothers and sisters. It's an occasion that celebrates the powerful relationship in which the sister ties a thread on the wrist of the brother. In today's age, when education, careers and marriage have led to the siblings living hundreds and thousands of kilometers apart, the need arises to send the Rakhi through mail.

However, this is the time when the monsoon is most active and there is a lot of rain. Everything is wet and and weather conditions also make it difficult for the parcel to reach the destination safely and that too in a dry condition.

So, to ensure that the parcel reaches its destination in a dry condition, the General Post Office (GPO), Lucknow has introduced designer waterproof envelopes for the festive occasion this year. In which the Rakhi can be safely couriered to the location concerned.

ANI news reports, Chief Postmaster RN Yadav said that these envelopes for Raksha Bandhan have been sent across the state. It also has a stick on the side of the envelope, so you need not use glue and create a mess.

These envelopes are available at a cost of just ten rupees at the General Post Office (GPO). Those sisters who are worried to send the rakhi can opt for this option and can send the rakhi safely and at a low cost.

The word "Raksha Bandhan" has originated from two words "Raksha", which means protection and Bandhan which means a bond. When the sister ties a rakhi on brother's wrist, he promises to protect her from all troubles and also gives her a gift in return.
