India Meteorological Department predicts heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Gujarat over the next 2-3 days. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel convened a high-level meeting on Monday, August 26 at the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar to review the impact of severe rainfall in the state.

Meanwhile, State Education Minister Praful Pansheriya said, "All primary schools in Gujarat will remain closed on Tuesday, August 27."

The NDRF is conducting a search operation in Gujarat's Morbi district to locate seven people who were carried away with their tractor trolley while crossing a flooded causeway on a river during heavy rains, an official said today. 10 of the 17 people on the tractor-trolley were rescued in a midnight operation near Dhavana hamlet.

"The tractor-trolley carrying 17 persons swept away when it was passing through a causeway (over a river) near Dhavana village in Halvad taluka of Morbi district at around 9 pm on Sunday. Ten persons were rescued while seven others are missing," said Morbi fire officer Devendrasinh Jadeja.

IMD also warned of heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra over the next two to three days.

Issuing a red alert, the IMD said heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in West Madhya Pradesh on August 26. Similar conditions are forecast for east and south Rajasthan, Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch from August 26 to 29.

The IMD has warned of strong winds reaching up to 50 kmph in Madhya Pradesh on August 26 and up to 60 kmph in south Rajasthan on August 26-27.

In Gujarat, nearby Pakistan, north Maharashtra, and the northeast Arabian Sea, strong winds gusting up to 55 kmph are expected on August 26, increasing to 60 kmph on August 27 and 28.

Rough to very rough sea conditions are anticipated off the coasts of Gujarat, Pakistan, and north Maharashtra until August 30. Rough seas are also expected in the North Bay of Bengal on August 26.
