Rabi crops sowing crosses 632 lakh hactare in 2017-18

The total area sown under Rabi crops as of February 2, 2018, stood at 632.34 lakh hectares as compared to 641.72 lakh hectare this time in 2017, said a Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare report.
According to preliminary reports received from the states, wheat has been sown/transplanted in 300.70 lakh hectares, rice in 28.61 lakh hectares, pulses in 166.47 lakh hectares, coarse cereals in 56.27 lakh hectares and area sown under oilseeds is 80.29 lakh hectares.
