With Raazi, the actress has come to the big screen almost a year after the release of Badrinath Ki Dulhania. According to media reports, the movie had a steady 15% occupancy rate during morning shows in the theatres, nothing grand, but the foundation may have been set for a bigger jump over the weekend. Today was a working day for everyone and as such, footfalls in theatres were expected to be light. However, Raazi collection is expected to pick up during the evening and night shows as well as over the weekend. Exactly how the word of mouth boost pans out will be crucial in deciding the ultimate fate of the movie.
The film has a unique combination of Karan Johar as a producer and Meghna Gulzar as the director. With no other competition from other releases, apart from the mega Hollywood release Avengers: Infinity War, which has defied all predictions to enter the Rs 200 cr club. However, it is at the fag end of its run now and is not expected to pose too tough a challenge for Raazi. All in all, this Alia Bhatt starrer is expected to bag Rs 4-5 cr on its opening day.
With weekend around the corner, Raazi is expected to make Rs 16-18 cr in the coming two days. Director Meghna Gulzar returned with Raazi a couple of years after Talvar. Based on a true story, the director promises the film to be an intriguing espionage thriller.

Raazi also stars Vicky Kaushal opposite Alia Bhatt. Gulzar narrates a spy tale in this movie which is set during India-Pakistan war. Based on Harinder Sikka's novel Calling Sehmat, the film is about the daughter of a spy form India (played by Alia) who becomes the daughter-in-law of another spy from Pakistan.
The film has a realistic feeling, but has its fair share of commercial moments. Apart from Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, the movie also stars Soni Razdan, Rajit Kapoor Khanvilkar.
