Delhiites are set to get respite from their property tax payments, as the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has decided to benefit those who recently purchased newly constructed flats, said a report in Hindustan. According to the report, such people will get respite from paying old property tax. They will have to show the affidavit from the date they purchased the flat to avail the benefit. The Commissioner, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, has given his consent on the proposal discussed in the Standing Committee meeting.
 
Notably, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation earlier used to charge property tax from flat owners since 2004. The flat owners were reportedly burdened with arrears, and in some cases, such arrears were more than the actual price.

Looking into this aspect, now corporation has decided to take property tax from the date the flat owners purchased it.
