Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to social media and announced she was setting up a fundraiser to help India combat the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that has adversely affected the country.
Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to social media and announced she was setting up a fundraiser to help India combat the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that has adversely affected the country. Undoubtedly, at present, India is battling one of its toughest battles. The country is registering more than three lakh fresh COVID-19 infections and hundreds of deaths every day at present. Amidst this adverse scenario when so many well-wishers come forward to extend a helping hand, one can be hopeful of the fact that this too shall pass.

Priyanka shared a video on Instagram and said that India is her home and that it is suffering. She wrote, "India, my home, is suffering the world’s worst Covid crisis, and we all need to help! People are dying in record numbers. There is illness everywhere, and it’s only continuing to spread and kill at great speed and scale."
In her Instagram post, the Quantico star also announced about her fundraiser that she has set up with GiveIndia and requested fans to contribute. Chopra added in her post, "Whatever you can spare, truly makes a difference. Nearly 63 million people follow me on here, if even 100,000 of you donate $10, that’s $1 Million, and that’s huge. Your donation will go directly to healthcare physical infrastructure (including Covid care centres, Isolation centers, and oxygen generation plants), medical equipment, and vaccine support and mobilization."
On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra's husband singer NIck Jonas also appealed fans to contribute for India on twitter. He tweeted, "So much is needed to help the people of India battle COVID-19. Please consider contributing to help India cope with the crippling effects of the pandemic. #TogetherForIndia @GiveIndia."

In other COVID-19 related news in India, the third phase vaccination drive is set to begin in India from April 1, 2021, which will include every adult above 18 years of age. The registration process has already begun from April 28, 2021, at CoWin portal at cowin.gov.in.
