PM Modi applauds progress of Ujjwala Yojana scheme

Ujjwala Yojna Scheme: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, April 7 hailed the impact of the Ujjwala Scheme on women and households by sharing a video.
“The way 'Ujjwala' has brightened up the lives of our poor mothers and sisters by making them easy, it is very encouraging,” the PM tweeted.

What is Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana?
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to safeguard the health of women and children by providing them with clean cooking fuel – LPG, so they don’t have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood.
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by the prime minister on May 1, 2016. The scheme aimed at providing five crore LPG connections to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families with a support of Rs 1,600 per connection in the next three years.
Ensuring women’s empowerment, especially in rural India, the connections will be issued in the name of women of the households. A budget of Rs 8,000 crore has been allocated towards the implementation of the scheme. Identification of the BPL families is done through Socio-Economic Caste Census Data.
According to the Ujjawal Yojana official website, a total of 28577 TMT LPG was provided in FY21-22.
Who can apply for Ujjwala Yojana Scheme?
-Applicant (woman only) must have attained 18 years of age.
-There should not be any other LPG connection from any OMC in the same household.
-Adult woman belonging to any of the following categories – SC, ST, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Most Backward Classes (MBC), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Tea and Ex-Tea Garden tribes, Forest Dwellers, People residing in Islands and River Islands, enlisted under SECC Households (AHL TIN) or any Poor Household as per 14-point declaration.

Ujjwala Yojana Scheme: Documents required
-Know Your Customer (KYC)
-Aadhaar Card of the applicant as Proof of Identity and Proof of Address in case the applicant is residing at the same address as mentioned in the Aadhaar (not mandatory for Assam and Meghalaya).
-Ration Card issued by the State from which application is being made/ other State Govt. document certifying family composition/ Self-Declaration as per Annexure I (for migrant applicants)
-Bank Account Number and IFSC
-Supplementary KYC to support the status of the family.
