Precautionary Dose Covid Vaccine: Who is eligible for booster dose? Eligibility, steps to register and other details
Here's step-by-step guide on how to register for precautionary and booster doses of Covid Vaccine and eligibility criteria.
The administration of India has begun the vaccination of frontline workers and vulnerable elderly people with precautionary and booster dose from January 10, 2022.
Around 168,063 new cases were reported in India on Tuesday, less than the figure of 179,723 the previous day, where deaths rose by 277 to 484,213, as per the health ministry said.
The tally of infections reached 35.88 million. As the cases are rising day by day, it is very important to get yourself fully vaccinated. And for the same you must know are you eligible for precautionary dose of covid vaccine and how to register?
Eligibility criteria:
-Frontline workers and senior citizens with co-morbidities are eligible for the precautionary and booster dose.
-Doctor's certificate is not required at the time of administration of the precaution dosage, but it is recommended that you check with a doctor before taking the precaution dose.
-The second and third doses must be separated by nine months i.e, for 39 weeks.
-If you have vaccinated with Covaxin, your third dosage will be Covaxin as well. Same for Covishield. The government does not allow vaccinations to be mixed and matched.
Step-by-step guide on how to register for precautionary and booster doses of Covid Vaccine:
-Beneficiaries will be able to get the vaccination for precaution and booster dose using their current Co-WIN account.
-They can register in advance, on-site, or through the Co-WIN Facilitated Cohort Registration procedure.
-Eligibility of beneficiaries will be based on the date of administration of 2nd dose as recorded in the Co-WIN system.
-Verification will be done preferably using Aadhaar.
Apart from Aadhaar, other IDs approved by the MoHFW are:
1. EPIC,
2. Passport,
3. Driving license,
4. PAN Card,
5. Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR,
6. Pension Document with Photograph.
-When the precautionary and booster dosage is due, the Co-WIN system will send SMS to such recipients to remind them to take it.
-Registration and appointment services are available in both online and onsite formats.
-All Vaccination will be recorded in real-time through the Co-WIN Vaccinator Module on the same day.
Note: Vaccination will follow the standard procedure of registration, verification at session site, and reporting in Co-WIN including AEFIs reporting and management.
