Precautionary COVID-19 vaccine dose will be the same vaccine as has been given previously, Dr VK Paul, Member-Health, NITI Aayog has said. With the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country and the Omicron variant cases, there are discussions regarding precautionary booster doses.

News agency ANI has tweeted from its official Twitter handle about the announcement made by Dr VK Paul. The tweet said, "Precautionary COVID-19 vaccine dose will be the same vaccine as has been given previously. Those who've received Covaxin will receive Covaxin, those who've received primary two doses of Covishield will receive Covishield: Dr VK Paul, Member-Health, NITI Aayog."

It has to be noted that India on Wednesday reported its first COVID-19 death linked to the fast-spreading Omicron variant in the western state of Rajasthan, a federal health ministry official said.

As per the data from the MoHFW, over the last 24 hours. the country has recorded 58,097 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Furthermore, 147.72 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued new guidelines for home isolation of mild/asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. The patients under home isolation will stand discharged & end isolation after at least 7 days have passed from testing positive and no fever for 3 successive days.
