Taking to Twitter, official handle of Housing for all posted, “A total of 109 Lakh houses have been sanctioned under #PMAYUrban, in a bid to fulfill the vision of "#HousingForAll by 2022".
Earlier, a government data in 2019 had said that 15 lakh such houses were being built new technologies.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reiterated his promise of housing for all while laying the foundation stone of Light House Projects (LHPs) under Global Housing Technology Challenge (GHTC)-India, across six states in the country through video conferencing last week. “It is time to put an end to the miseries of the poor,” he had said. Mr. Modi said the Light House Projects will showcase the best forms of technology, used for public welfare and light house projects will help support urban housing needs.
Lambasting previous government for their ‘lack of interest in providing housing schemes’ the Prime Minister said, housing schemes were not in the priority list of earlier central governments. “The current government realises that transformation is impossible without all-around development. The country has adopted a new approach and a different road ahead. Under the Pradhan
Mantri Awas Yojana, lakhs of houses have been built in a very short span of time and construction of many more is still going on,” he had said.
