Post office national flag: Ahead of the 75th Independence Day of India, post offices are selling India's national flag in every district under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. The postal department under the Ministry of Communication has already started selling India's national flag online via its e-portal service. The flag -- 20 inches x 30 inches in size (without flagpole) is available for Rs 25 per piece, without any GST (Goods and Services Tax).

“The Department proposes the sale of National Flags under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from its ePostoffice Portal. The customer shall order on this portal, make payment, and delivery of Flags shall be delivered from the nearest post office where flags are available,” a notification issued by the department said last week.  

According to the notification, “Sansad Marg HO (Head Office) has been identified as Nodal Office for receipt of payment through ePostotfice portal. Besides, NIC will make provision to display a Picture (icon) of Indian National Flag on ePostoffice Portal home page.”

In the purchase form, users need to specify the address of delivery, the quantity of the flags, (maximum of five flags per customer initially) to be purchased and the mobile number. Customers will have to make payment online for completing the purchase formalities and once the order is placed no cancellation would be possible.  

A post office circle will take necessary action to deliver the national flag to the concerned customer at their address from the available stock in the Post offices nearest to the addressee and the delivery of the National Flag will be made free of cost to the customer with no tracking facility.
