The move will benefit 300 food vendors of six cities.

To start with, 300 food vendors in six cities will be given training by Zomato. Bhopal, Nagpur, Patna, Vadodara, Nagpur and Ludhiana have been identified as the city where this initiative will be given reality.

On successful completion of the first phase, food aggregator Zomato will take this to 125 cities and train street food vendors across India.

The MoU was signed between PM SVANIDHI Yojana director and representatives of Zomato. As per this deal, Zomato will not only train these street vendors on food safety and hygiene, but will also take care of their PAN card, FSSAI registration, digitisation of food menu and fixing food prices.

Earlier in October 2020, the government has also made similar agreement with food aggregator Swiggy.

The move is to help street food vendors get online market and more customers. This online initiative of government to tie up with Zomato and Swiggy will go on a long way to help vendors and give a push to Modi government digital push.
