IIT 2020 Global Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be delivering a keynote address at the IIT-2020 Global Summit at 9.30 pm today, said Prime Minister’s office (PMO). The summit is being organised by PanIIT USA. The theme of this year`s IIT 2020 Global Summit is 'The Future is Now'.
The focus of the Summit is on issues like the global economy, technology, innovation, health, habitat conservation and universal education, according to an official release. PanIIT USA is an organization that is more than 20 years old. Since 2003 PanIIT USA has organised this conference and invited speakers from different sectors including industry, academia, and government. PanIIT USA is run by an all-volunteer team of IIT alumni.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi lauded the Indian Navy on Navy Day, saying it fearlessly protects the country's coasts and also renders humanitarian assistance in times of need. PM Modi took to Twitter to say, "Navy Day greetings to all our valorous navy personnel and their families. The Indian navy fearlessly protects our coasts and also renders humanitarian assistance in times of need. We also remember India's rich maritime tradition over centuries."
Navy Day is celebrated on December 4 every year to commemorate the Indian Navy's attack on Karachi harbour during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, inflicting massive losses on the enemy.
