Narendra Modi Oath Ceremony Date and Timing: Narendra Modi is set to take oath as the Prime Minister of India for the third time in a row at 6:30 pm in New Delhi on Sunday (June 9, 2024). Modi got the go ahead to become the Prime Minister after the allies of National Democratic Alliance (NDA), including Nitish Kumar from JD(U) and Chandrabahu Naidu of Telugu Desham Party (TDP), extended their support.

Many South Asian leaders have been invited for Modi's swearing-in ceremony. Some of the prominent leaders who had confirmed their participation for the swearing-in ceremony are Bangladesh's PM Sheikh Hasina and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on Saturday to take part in the PM oath ceremony.

 

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Bhutan's PM Tshering Tobgay, and Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth have also been invited for the high-profile ceremony on Sunday.

 

Elections for the 18th Lok Sabha were held in seven phases ending on June 1.

Vote counting took place on June 4. The NDA got the majority, selecting Modi as its alliance leader and the prime minister. The INDIA bloc fell short of touching the magic number of 272 seats in Lok Sabha, hence failing to form the government.

Modi is set to become only the second PM after Jawahar Lal Nehru to take the oath as a PM of India for the third time.
