In a major boost for the development of the eastern Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a range of projects worth Rs 9,600 crore in Gorakhpur on Tuesday.
In a major boost for the development of the eastern Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a range of projects worth Rs 9,600 crore in Gorakhpur on Tuesday. The three important projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister are - Hindustan Urvarak Rasayan Ltd fertiliser plant, ICMR's Regional Medical Research Centre. Besides, he dedicated an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to the nation.
To recall, the Hindustan Urvarak Rasayan Ltd fertiliser plant has been revived by the government after remaining shut for over 30 years. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project in July 2016. According to the government, the plant will help the country in becoming Aatmanirbhar in urea production.
Addressing a rally after the inauguration of projects in Gorakhpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the urea availability has improved now in the country.

The foundation stone for the fully functional complex of AIIMS, Gorakhpur was laid by the Prime Minister in July 2016. The complex was built at a cost of over Rs 1,000 crore.
The Gorakhpur AIIMS will benefit not only the people of eastern Uttar Pradesh but also a huge population of Bihar, Jharkhand and Nepal with its world-class health facilities, said a PTI report quoting officials.
Similarly, the regional medical research centre was set up at a cost of Rs 36 crore will facilitate the test and research of vector-borne diseases, they added. The high-tech lab will decrease the dependency of the area on big cities for tests related to vector-borne diseases.
In his address, the Prime Minister has appreciated the efforts of Uttar Pradesh Government-led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in clearing pending dues to sugarcane farmers.

"Yogi govt paid sugarcane dues to farmers in 4.5 years more than amount paid by previous UP governments in 10 years," said a PTI report.
