INS Surat
INS Surat is the last of the Visakhapatnam-class destroyers under Project 15B, a series known for its size and advanced capabilities. This warship, with 75% of its components made in India, carries state-of-the-art weapons, sensors, and network-centric technologies. It's named after the vibrant city of Surat and joins the fleet alongside INS Visakhapatnam, INS Mormugao, and INS Imphal.
INS Nilgiri
Named after the iconic Nilgiri Hills, this frigate is part of Project 17A. The name carries forward the tradition of the original INS Nilgiri, India’s first indigenously designed frigate commissioned in 1972. With stealth features and advanced tech, this new generation warship blends maritime heritage with innovation.
INS Vaghsheer
The sixth submarine of the Scorpene-class under Project 75, INS Vaghsheer showcases India’s growing submarine-building prowess. Designed in collaboration with France’s Naval Group, this diesel-electric attack submarine combines stealth and firepower.
The Navy and defense officials are hailing this milestone as a testament to India’s growing self-reliance and leadership in naval technology.
