PK Mishra is new Principal Secretary to PM Narendra Modi; PK Sinha appointed as Principal Advisor
Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of both the officers with effect from September 11, 2019 (Wednesday) mentioning that their appointments would be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier, said two separate orders issued from the ministry.
Senior IAS officer Pramod Kumar Mishra has been appointed as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while PK Sinha is made his new Principal Advisor, according to a Ministry of Personnel order. PK Mishra takes charge today. Currently, Mishra was functioning as Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister while Sinha was functioning as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Prime Minister`s Office.

PK Mishra has been given responsibility after Nripendra Misra recently stepped down as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Dr Mishra has varied work experience in the management of programmes relating to agriculture, disaster management, power sector,infrastructure financing, and regulatory issues and has an outstanding career profile comprising research, publications, policy formulation and programme/project management. He has vast experience in policy making and administration and has handled major assignments such as Additional Pr. Secretary to the Prime Minister; Secretary, Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of India; Chairman, State Electricity Regulatory Commission and in the area of Disaster management. As Secretary Agriculture & Cooperation, he was actively involved in path-breaking national initiatives such as the National Agriculture Development Programme (RKVY) and the National Food Security Mission (NFSM), the official statement said.
As Additional Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister during 2014-19, Dr Mishra is credited with introducing innovation and transformative changes in human resource management, particularly appointments to senior positions.
Dr Mishra has a PhD in Economics/Development Studies from the University of Sussex, MA in Development Economics at the University of Sussex as also MA in Economics with a first class at the Delhi School of Economics and BA Hons. (Economics) with a first-class and distinction in other subjects from G.M. College (Sambalpur University) in 1970. He was the only one to get a first-class in Economics among all the universities of Odisha.
PK Sinha appointed as Principal Advisor to PM
Currently functioning as OSD in the Prime Minister's Office, PK Sinha has been appointed the Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. A 1977 Batch IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh Cadre, Sinha served as Cabinet Secretary from 13th June 2015 to 30th August 2019. During his career, Sinha has served as Secretary in the Ministries of Power and Shipping, besides serving as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Sinha did his graduation in Economics from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi. Thereafter, he did postgraduation in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. Subsequently, while in service he also obtained the Masters Diploma in Public Administration and an M Phil in Social Sciences.
