The last major country-wide fluctuation in fuel prices was witnessed in May when the Centre had cut the excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel.

Petrol, Diesel Latest Prices in major metropolitan Cities

The current retail rates in Delhi for petrol and diesel are Rs 96.72 and Rs 89.62 per litre, respectively, according to the most recent revisions.

A litre of petrol costs Rs 106.31 in Mumbai, and a litre of diesel costs Rs 94.27.

Retail prices for petrol and diesel in Kolkata are Rs. 106.03 and Rs. 92.76 per litre, respectively.

In Chennai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 102.63 and a litre of diesel costs Rs 94.24.

Fuel prices are revised in line with international benchmark prices and foreign exchange rates by public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs). OMCs include Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).
