Pensioner Alert: Great news for pensioners of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) who are members of the ESIC PMS, 2006 (ESIC Pensioners Medical Scheme 2006) scheme. The body which runs a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme for Indian workers, has constituted a committee to assist employees in the event of the employees getting affected by the coronavirus disease.
The committee which has been constituted, comprises of six members and is headed by the Additional Commissioner. The information is made available through a 1 July 2020 circular, issued by the body.
“The Competent Authority has decided that the Committee already formed vide Estt. Br.III letter no. A-48/15/3/2020-E-III dated 14/06/2006 having following members as support group for employees for getting assistance in case of being infected and found Covis-19 positive shall also provide assistance to the pensioners of ESIC, who are members of the ESIC Pensioners Medical Scheme, 2006, in unforeseen situation,” the circular reads.
SOP already issued in case of Covid-19 affected employees shall also be applicable in case of pensioners of ESIC who are members of ESIC PMS 2006, it further said.
As per the release, ESIC has also directed nodal officers to get in touch with the affected pensioners and also enquire about their wellbeing. It further directs the committee to facilitate transportation, diagnostic, testing, hospitalisation. The committee is also directed to monitor the wellbeing of the pensioners and offer support in case of home quarantine.
