PCS exam evaluation: Yogi Adityanath govt makes massive changes
Even as the CBI probes into the irregularities found in the results of the PCS examinations held between 2012 and 2017, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has made major changes in the evaluation system of the main examinations by cutting interview marks into half and introducing more written papers for the General Knowledge (GK) instead of objective type.
Even as the CBI probes into the irregularities found in the results of the PCS examinations held between 2012 and 2017, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has made major changes in the evaluation system of the main examinations by cutting interview marks into half and introducing more written papers for the General Knowledge (GK) instead of objective type.
The decision was taken on Tuesday, and the total marks for the written and interview portions have now been brought down to 1,600 from 1,700 by reducing marks interview marks by 100.
The Cabinet has also approved the proposal to introduce two more GK papers with 200 marks each — now there will be a total of four GK papers. Instead of objective type, the candidates will have to answer them in writing.

After the changes, the candidates will have to opt only one subject instead of two earlier. There will be two papers for the optional subject of 200 marks each.
