Parliament Monsoon Session from July 19: Govt looks forward to table and pass 23 Bills - What citizens should know
The monsoon session of the Parliament is scheduled to take place from July 19 and the Modi government will try to get 23 bills passed during the session.
The monsoon session of the Parliament is scheduled to take place from July 19 to August 13 and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has informed that the session will be held at normal pre-Covid timings from 11 am to 6 pm, as per a report by ANI.
In the past few sessions, the two Houses of the Parliament were functioning at reduced time slots. Rajya Sabha operated from 9 am to 1 pm while the proceeding of the Lok Sabha commenced at 4 pm.

As per the ANI report, this decision was implemented keeping in view the Covid-19 situation in the country. The normal timings of the sitting of the two Houses were restored earlier as well at 11 am in March during the second part of the Budget session.
During the session, the Modi government will try to get 23 bills passed. Some of the important bills are:-
1. Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment Bill)
Purpose: To provide a speedier, cost-effective, semi-formal and less disruptive framework for insolvency resolution of corporate debtors in distress.
2. Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas 2021
Purpose: To provide a permanent solution for air pollution and solving the issue. Set up a Commission for Air Quality Management in order to streamline public participation, interstate cooperation and expert involvement, research and innovation.
3. The Central Universities Amendment Bill
Purpose: To set up a university in the union territory, Ladakh region.
