PAN card or Permanent Account Number — issued by the Income Tax Department — is one of the important documents for all kinds of financial transactions. For instance, in the absence of a PAN Card, one can't transact a deal that is more than Rs 50,000 in a day from a bank. Apart from this, it works as ID proof as well. So, having correct information on PAN Card is necessary. However, you can make changes if there is a problem. It can be done online through Umang App. What you need is to download this app on your smartphone or Android phone.

If there is wrong information on a PAN card like spelling error in name or father's name, error in date of birth, etc., then this can be corrected through Umang App. If you don't have Umang App downloaded on your mobile phone, you can do it now. App is available in Play Store. But, once, the app is downloaded, one needs to log in and register mobile number. Then need to click on 'My PAN' and go to the 'Correction/Change' option and do the needful as per your requirements.

Here is the step by step guide on how to correct PAN card information through Umang App:

1] Log in at Umang App;

2] Click at 'My PAN' option;

3] Click at 'Correct/Change' option;

4] CSF form will get opened where you will have the option to correct the existing information;

5] You will have to fill up your PAN card and other details; and

6] Pay the fee for PAN card correction.

One can pay the PAN Card correction fee via net banking, debit card or credit card.

After doing this, one needs to submit the related documents and a photocopy of the existing PAN Card to the nearest NSDL TIN Facilitation center or PAN Center.
