Over 2 cr vaccine doses available for states, Mansukh Mandaviya says; VACCINATE all school teachers on priority by September 5, urges Health Minister
Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health and Family Welfare has said that besides the scheme of providing vaccines to every state this month, more than 2 crore vaccine doses are being made available. He also urged to vaccinate school teachers on priority.

The health minister further informed that the government has requested all the states to try to vaccinate all school teachers on priority before Teachers Day celebration on September 5.

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the central government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country.
The new phase of universalization of Covid-19 vaccination commenced from June 21, 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the central government has been supporting the states and UTs by providing them Covid vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalization of the Covid-19 vaccination drive, the government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 percent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.
As per the latest information provided by the Health Ministry, more than 58.07 crore (58,07,64,210) vaccine doses have been provided to states/UTs so far through free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category. Further, 51,48,970 doses are in the pipeline.
More than 3.62 crore (3,62,24,601) balance and unutilized Covid Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, as per the notification issued by the ministry.
Also, India’s cumulative vaccination coverage has crossed the 59 crore landmark on Tuesday. With the administration of 61,90,930 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed the cumulative figure of 59.55 Cr (59,55,04,593) as per provisional reports till 7 am on Wednesday. This has been achieved through 65,52,748 sessions.
