Oscar Nominations 2023: The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the blockbuster hit 'RRR' has been nominated for Oscars 2023 in the Original Song category. After the Golden Globe and the Critic’s Choice Award, this is the third big-ticket nomination for 'Naatu Naatu' this year.

Of these, the much-loved track from the blockbuster film 'RRR' directed by S. S. Rajamouli has already bagged two prestigious awards - the Golden Globe and the Critic’s Choice Award. 

The song emerged victorious against formidable contenders like Taylor Swift’s hit track ‘Carolina’ from the film ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’, ‘Ciao Papa’ from Guillermo del Toro's ‘Pinocchio’, Lady Gaga's ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, and Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

RRR joins the league of Indian films that have gone to the Oscars — Mother India, Salaam Bombay, Slumdog Millionaire and Lagaan — that were nominated for various categories.

For Oscars 2023, India has four titles shortlisted in different categories — RRR, Chello Show, The Elephant Whisperers, and All That Breathes. 

James Cameron's mega-hit Avatar: Way of Water and Damien Chazelle's Babylon has also been nominated for Best Production Design.  

The Elephant Whisperers, a short documentary, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, has been nominated in the Best Documentary Short Film category at the Academy Awards. 

"The Elephant Whisperers" is a documentary about an unbreakable bond between two abandoned elephants and their caretakers. It is produced by Oscar winner Guneet Monga of "Period. End of Sentence" fame.
