One card for all your transactions - National Common Mobility Card for transit, retail shopping and more
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs officially launched the National Common Mobility Card on March 4 2019.
Do you use public transport often, and have to carry a variety of passes and smart cards for various modes of transport? Do you wish you had a single card for transportation in every city in India? Well, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs officially launched the National Common Mobility Card on March 4 2019. Often called as the One Nation, One Card is an inter-operable transport card which will enable users to pay for their transit expenses. Additionally, this one of its kind smart card can also be used to make payments for toll duties, retails shopping and make cash withdrawals.
The National Common Mobility Card or the NCMC was issued to ensure seamless travel all across the country. Moreover, the NCMC accelerates the digitization of systems. The card is supported indigenous by Automatic Fare Collection Gate ‘Swagat’ and an Open Loop Automatic Fare Collection System ‘Sweekar’
The card is enabled with the RuPay card mechanism and can be used like a debit, credit or prepaid card. Moreover, the card has partnered with 25 eminent banks such as the State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank to name a few.
Key points to know for the National Common Mobility Card, also known as One Nation One Card,
- The card can be used to make transactions across all kinds of transit modes which includes metros, buses and suburban railway.
- Payments of the toll plazas and parking can also be made from the card
- Additionally, the card can make other purchases such as retail shopping and bill payments.
- Transactions made by the card also avail the cardholder benefits which include cashback. One can get 5% cashback at ATM transactions and 10% at merchant outlets while abroad.
