Goa Night Curfew: The Goa government has decided to impose a night curfew in the state in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the state. The night curfew will be imposed from 11 PM to 6 AM.

Today, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant chaired a task force for the Covid-19 management meeting. Dr. Shekhar Salkar, a member of the Goa government`s task force for Covid management informed that Schools and colleges in Goa will remain closed till January 26, 2022.

 

"Schools and colleges will be closed in Goa till January 26 in view of the rising Covid cases. Classes will be conducted online during the period," Salkar told the reporters.

Salkar also said that while offline classes will not be conducted in schools and colleges, students who are eligible for vaccination will be inoculated in school premises over the next few days, after which they are not required to visit their respective schools until January 26.

Salkar also said that the infection rate in the coastal state had crossed an average of 5 per cent, which was the reason why the task force had decided to shut down schools and impose a night curfew.

It has to be noted that as per an ANI report dated December 27, 2021, Goa reported its first Omicron case in an eight year old boy who had travelled  from the UK on December 17, 2021.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India recorded 33,750 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Furthermore, 145.68 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Also, the COVID-19 vaccination for children between 15 to 18 years of age has started across the country from today, January 3, 2022.
