Amid Omicron fear, Mumbai imposes Section 144 from today till January 7; Active caseload stands at 82,402

In the wake of an ongoing surge, the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai issued prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 that will be imposed in the city from December 30 to January 7.

Amid the Omicron scare, the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, has issued new orders directing that no New Year celebration programme, function, gathering, party, activity, or happening in any closed or open space shall be allowed in municipal limits of Greater Mumbai, in order to tighten the measures to prevent and contain the rapid spread of Covid-19 virus.

Police prohibit New Year's celebrations, parties in any closed or open space, including restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts and clubs, from December 30 to January 7 has been prohibited.

Over 143.83 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive. India's Active caseload currently stands at 82,402

Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.24%. Recovery Rate currently at 98.38%. 7,486 recoveries in the last 24 hours increases Total Recoveries to 3,42,58,778.

Over 13,154 new cases in the last 24 hours. Daily positivity rate (1.10%) less than 2% for last 87 days. Weekly Positivity Rate (0.76%) less than 1% for last 46 days. Around 67.64 cr Total Tests conducted so far.

Similarly, a Covid-19 test will now be mandatory for visitors entering the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh.

The administration has issued a notice regarding the decision.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Pilibhit, Alok Sharma, told to IANS: "The Pilibhit Tiger Reserve attracts visitors from far off places during this time of the year. We want to ensure that the people who visit the reserve are tested for Covid-19. Arrangements are being made for the same and we will be able to begin sampling from Friday.
