The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Wednesday launched second updated version 1.2 of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app on Google Play Store for Android phone users.

“We are pleased to launch the new upgrade for all BHIM users. The new version offers enhanced security features, superior user experience which makes digital transactions much more safe and secure. We believe this will lead to higher acceptance among customers as well as merchants," National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) manging director and chief executive officer A P Hota, said in a press release.

At NPCI, we remain committed to customer centric approach by constantly innovating and improvising our services, he added. 

In the new updated version of BHIM app, NPCI has added seven new languages feature apart from existing English and Hindi languages. BHIM app will now be available in seven languages namely Odia, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Gujarati, NPCI said in a statement.

Besides, it has introduced ‘Pay to Aadhaar Number’ feature as a payment option to the app, wherein customer can transfer money to the Aadhaar number linked with beneficiaries’ bank account.

The Government of India had launched the BHIM app on December 30, 2016. The app is common platform across the country for making simple, easy and quick payment transactions using Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

With BHIM app, one can easily make direct bank to bank payments instantly and collect money using mobile number or payment address.
