Noida lockdown: Curfew till September 30 – All that’s open and closed

As new COVID-19 cases continue to emerge, a lockdown has been extended in Noida till September 30, 2020. Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded 126 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the tally in the district to 7,960, official data showed. The number of active cases climbed to 1,055 from 1,009 on Sunday, according to the data released by the Uttar Pradesh Health Department for a 24-hour period. Also, 80 more patients got discharged during the period. The district remained at the 14th position in the state in terms of active cases. 

In the latest advisory for Noida and Greater Noida districts adjoining Delhi, the police extended Section 144 till the end of September and urged citizens to adhere to the safety norms.

As per the advisory, the weekend lockdown will continue in September from 10 PM on Friday night to 5 AM on Monday as imposed earlier. Metro rail services will resume in a phased manner from September 7 and a separate SOP will be issued on the same. 

All educational institutions in the district shall remain closed till September 30. However, from September 21, school teachers and staff members can be called for online education counselling. It said that the students of class 9 to 12, who stay in areas outside the containment zones, will be allowed to visit schools from September 21 on a voluntary basis for the educational guidance from teachers. This will require written consent from the parents. 

From September 21, all social, academic, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious, political events and other group activities will be permitted with a maximum limit of 100 people. Face masks and adherence to social distancing will be mandatory. 

Till September 20, up to 30 people will be allowed to attend any wedding ceremony, while a maximum of 20 people can attend funerals. Among other things, cinema halls, theatres, swimming pools, amusement parks, and all other auditoriums will remain closed. Only open-air theatres will be allowed to operate from September 21. 

The Gautam Budh Nagar Police asserted that no additional lockdown shall be imposed locally outside a Containment Zone by any District Magistrate. 

So far, 6,860 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in Gautam Buddh Nagar, the third-highest among districts in UP after Lucknow with 19,893 recoveries and Kanpur Nagar 11,1.50 cured, it showed. The death toll in the district stood at 45 with a mortality rate of 0.56 per cent, slightly better than 0.57 per cent on Sunday, according to official statistics.
