Just like petrol prices, the state-owned Oil companies decided to keep diesel prices unchanged today. On previous day, they reduced diesel prices after four days status quo, in range of 7 paise to 11 paise in various state capital of India. OMCs have been very cautious in trimming down diesel, despite international crude oil prices today extended falls from late last week after China threatened duties on American crude imports in an escalating trade dispute with Washington, while supply from OPEC and Russia is also expected to rise.

With many state elections expected in the late 2018s, it has become very important for the NDA government to bring in relief for fuel products prices which were at record high last month.
