Night Curfew in Gujarat Latest News: Due to the rising number of cases in the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, several states are imposing lockdown or strict curfews to control the spread of the disease. On Tuesday, the Gujarat government extended the night curfew in 36 cities for a week till May 18.

As per a report by india.com, the major cities where the night curfew is in place include Himmatnagar, Palanpur, Navsari, Valsad, Porbandar, Botad, Viramgam, Chhota Udaipur and Veraval. The night curfew will be in place from 8 PM to 6 AM in the 36 cities where the night curfew has been extended. The ANI has also tweeted regarding the extension of night curfew in the 36 cities. The ANI tweet reads, "COVID19 Night curfew (8pm-6am) in 36 cities of Gujarat extended for a week till May 18."

 

Last month, the Gujarat government had issued new guidelines to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infection in the state. The Chief Minister of the state Vijay Rupani decided to impose night curfew to nine more cities and the new restrictions were imposed.

The COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines for the Gujarat night curfew are as follows:

1) The night curfew has been extended in 36 cities till May 18 where only essential services will be allowed

2) The restaurants, swimming pools, cinema halls, shopping complexes and water parks will remain shut in all these cities till May 18, 2021. The beauty parlours, gardens, salons, gyms, auditoriums, and malls will also remain closed.

3) Only fruit and vegetable market will be allowed to function during this time

4) All the religious places all over the state will remain closed

5) Only 20 people will be allowed at a funeral

6) A maximum number of 50 guests will be allowed at wedding ceremonies

On Tuesday, India reported 3,29,942 new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours as per the union health ministry. At present, there is a total number of 131832 active COVID-19 cases in the state of Gujarat as per the state government's COVID-19 portal.
