Nifty reclaims 8,800-mark; SBI up ahead of Q3 result
NSE Nifty and BSE Sensex are likely to open in positive on Friday February 10, 2017.
Domestic markets on Friday opened in green. At 0945 hours Sensex was trading at 28,377.09, up 47.39 points or 0.17%, while Nifty was at 8,801.15, up 22.75 points or 0.26%.
On Thursday, NSE Nifty had closed at 8,778.40 points, up 0.11% and BSE Sensex rose 0.14% to close at 28,329.70 points.
Today, on 30-share benchmark, among top gainers are Adani Ports (2.28%), State Bank of India (1.25%), Tata Steel (1.04%), NTPC (0.95%) and Tata Consultancy Services (0.79%). Among losers were Lupin (-1.20%), Cipla (-1.13%), Tata Motors (-0.98%), ICICI Bank (-0.75%) and ITC (-0.72%).
Rupee has recovered from the fallout due to demonetisation. The rupee today soared by 34 paise to end at a fresh 3-month high of 66.85 against the US dollar on frantic selling of the American currency by exporters and banks. This is the highest closing since November 10 last year.
KEY STOCKS TO WATCH:
Aurobindo Pharma: On Thursday, the company reported 6.29% rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 578.59 crore during the third quarter ended on December 31 as against Rs 544.31 crore during the same period in the last fiscal.
Cairn India: The company registered 15-fold jump in net profit at Rs 604 crore during the third quarter of current fiscal as against Rs 41 crore during the third quarter of previous fiscal.
Lupin: Pharmaceutical-major Lupin on Thursday reported 21% rise in net profit during the quarter ended on December 31. The company registered a consolidated net profit of Rs 633.1 crore as as against Rs 524.5 crore in December 31, 2015 quarter.
Other stocks to watch on Friday include 3M India, Andrew Yule, Aurobindo Pharma, Ballarpur Industries, Bank of India, Bata India, Bharat Petroleum, Cairn India, Infosys and Indian Hotels.
RESULTS TODAY:
Bank of Baroda, Hindustan Zinc, Mahindra & Mahindra, GAIL India, State Bank of India will announce their third quarter ended December 31, 2016 results today.
