A new India-made Bullet train corridor is going to be set up soon in the country. This is separate from the one that is currently being built by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) to run between Maharashtra and Gujarat (Mumbai to Ahmedabad).

This already underway project will have trains imported from Japan in the first phase. However, India is looking to make separate corridors in other parts of the country and for this preparation is already going on in full swing. Indian Railways has prepared a Rs 500 crore plan, according to NBT newspaper.

Sources said, after the initial corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is ready, many similar corridors will be coming up later. Indian Railway has started planning in this direction with a vision to expand the project across India.

According to the agreement signed with Japan, technologies of making bullet train will also be given to India, This will enhance Indian Railways capacity to make Bullet trains on its own with new feature in India, said a top railway official.
