The bridge is anticipated to handle 70,000 vehicles every day.
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), one of the most awaited projects of Mumbai, is all set to open on December 25. The bridge will connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes.
Taking to X, BJP leader Varun Puri wrote, "Mumbai's iconic project 'MTHL', connects Mumbai with Navi Mumbai set to open for public on 25th December."
However, there is no official confirmation from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
Here are all the details about Mumbai Trans Harbour Link you need to know.
Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Opening Date
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) is expected to open on December 25, 2023. Mumbai and Navi Mumbai will now be connected in 20 minutes rather than hours thanks to the bridge. The six lanes of the MTHL, India's "longest sea bridge," cost more than Rs 17,000 crore to build. It would cut the travel time between Sewri (Central Mumbai) and Chirle (Navi Mumbai) by 15-20 minutes.
This will be the "longest sea bridge in India".
Notably, 16.5 km of the bridge's length is over water, with the remainder on land. Larsen and Toubro, and Tata Projects have been awarded the construction contract.
Tolling system
The tolls will be collected utilising an Open Road Tolling (ORT) system, and will be collected until 2045, according to the MMRDA. The bridge is anticipated to handle 70,000 vehicles every day.
Travel time from Mumbai to Pune
The decrease in travel time between Mumbai and Pune is a significant long-term benefit. It is estimated to save 90 minutes of travel time between Lonavala, Khandala, and Mumbai.
