Just after Jet Airways announced flight status checking facility for passengers residing in Mumbai, low-cost carrier Interglobe Aviation (Indigo) has also taken a similar measure. Indigo has launched a ‘Mumbai Alert’ page guiding passengers who have missed their flights or are delayed or is planning to travel from the country’s financial hub. Heavy showers have taken down Mumbai’s speedy spirit. Today almost everything right from railways, airlines to roads are operating slow. Mumbai which is India’s major financial hub, witnessed heavy rains in early hours of Tuesday. Within few hours many places are filled with water logging, even there are news of a bridge collapsing at Andheri station.

Indigo through its twitter account, announced free  re-accommodation to all passengers who have missed reporting on time due to the congestion arising out of the collapsing of #AndheriGokhaleBridge (Mumbai).

Indigo will provide seats based on the availability of the next flight.

Further in the ‘Mumbai Alert’ page, Indigo says, “Request all passengers to check their flight status in advance for delays/diversions due to heavy rains and bad traffic in Mumbai.” The airlines adds, “Please keep enough time on hand.

Any passenger travelling through Indigo today in Mumbai, can check for assistance by downloading their app or contact them through their official twitter or Facebook account. They can even chat with Indigo at their official website http://www.goindigo.in.

Passengers can check their Indigo flight status by sending an SMS  ST <flight no.> <flight date> as DDMM. For example flight 6E-333 for Jul 3, send ST 333 0307 to 566772.

The Mumbai Police has advised commuters might face traffic congestion on roads leading to the Airport. Plan your journey accordingly so that you are in time to catch your flight.
