Heavy rains have taken a toll on Mumbai and Western Railways is facing the heat over this. However, Central Railways routes are operational normally at all three lines, except trains going between Kalwa and Thane. According to Skymet Weather, extremely heavy Monsoon rains continue to lash Mumbai  as the city recorded 3-digit rainfall for the second consecutive day on Sunday. In the past 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Colaba Observatory recorded 171 mm of rains, whereas Santa Cruz Observatory had witnessed 122 mm.

Central Railways has taken precautionary steps in providing service to passengers. It has taken on its Twitter handle to update details of trains to  citizens travelling through their route.

Central Railways said, “Trains are still running. It's with caution between kalwa and Thane as a precautionary measure. Adding it says, 'Trains on Central Railway are running on all three lines.

However, on main line between kalwa and Thane it moving slowly as a precautionary measure because of very heavy rains and water above 8 inch. Senior officials are stationed at these stations for quick management on spot."

While they manage to keep central lines breathing to today, due to heavy rains, Central Railways had to reschedule train number 12542 LTT-Gorakhpur Express sch dep 1110 hrs on 9.7.2018 is at 1330 hrs on 9.7.2018 (Delay by 2 hours 20 minutes).

The authorities further assured passengers by saying, Trains on Central Railway are running on all three lines. However, on main line between kalwa and Thane it moving slowly as a precautionary measure because of very heavy rains and water above 8 inch. Senior officials are stationed at these stations for quick management on spot.

According to Skymet, Widespread clouding can be seen over entire Maharashtra. This has already given very heavy rains over Mumbai and we can expect heavy to very rains to continue over Mumbai and other coastal areas of Maharashtra during the next 24 to 48 hours.
