The move will enable farmers in over 43,000 villages in the state to access the 7/12 document in a matter of a click. The digital signature will be launched by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis today, on account of Maharashtra Day 2018 in Sahyadri Guest House. Minister for revenue, Chandrakant Patil will also grace the occasion.
Patil said computerisation of 7/12 extracts has been completed and any farmer can avail 7/12 details of ownership of his farmland without having to visit any government office. He said there are 43,948 villages in the state and records of almost 40 thousand villages is available online. “We want to provide document with digital signature so that these (documents) could be produced in banks or even courts for official purposes. If farmers can avail these documents online, there would not be any need for poor farmers to waste time in visiting government offices,” Patil said.
